How it works... Airfence Kart uses a foam frame inside a PVC fabric cover to create an ambient pressure air cell which is pressurized by impact and the consequent reduction of the air volume. Deceleration is provided by the increasing resistance of that air pressure. If necessary, the air pressure is controlled during impact by some air being released to the atmosphere to absorb and dissipate the energy. This avoids rebound (like a compressed spring) and the potential danger of further accidents. Using ambient air in this way the barrier is softer at low speed impacts and increasingly hard as penetration increases. In the situation of multiple accidents Airfence Kart will regain it’s basic original shape within a second of a kart clearing it, to ensure that the system is ready to absorb further impacts as required. The conveyor belt “skirt” may need a shake -see below. It is designed to be installed in front of potentially dangerous walls or solid objects. It needs to be placed immediately in front of the wall or object, so that it is supported along it’s length. It is then tied off at various points to ensure it’s security. The materials are of the highest quality, the foam
being high density, open cell polyurethane, and the polyester reinforced
PVC fabric being extremely strong, weather proof, fire retardant and
highest UV resistant. The primary impact area at the bottom of the front
of the barrier is covered by heavy duty, rubber conveyor belt which
stretches across several barriers. All materials are fully repairable
if by chance they are damaged. Properly engineered safety barriers are the way to take Karting forward. Investing in them is an investment in the future of Karting and your facility. CONTACT US: |
