Airfence Speedway Inflatable - How it works

Airfence Speedway Inflatable comes in sections that fasten together, each section being 3m long, 1.2m high and 0.7m thick. Each section is joined by stainless steel D rings and seat belt webbing fastenings and the join covered with a hook and hoop fastening flap. So a seamless bank of soft wall barrier is formed. At the beginning and end of each bank, an angled section leads the transition from the fence to the soft wall barrier.

Each section is made from highest quality, heavy duty, reinforced PVC fabric which is Fire Retardant and highest UV stabilized. It almost entirely high frequency welded to ensure highest quality joins that won’t tear or come apart.

Inside are a series of lightly inflated and ambient air pressure chambers. When a rider impacts the Airfence section, air in the various chambers is compressed, so increasingly arresting the rider, the faster he hits the greater the resistance becomes. Graduated resistance and spreading the load to more of the body are the keys to eliminating sudden stops and the damage they do.

To stop the Airfence being a spring, air is exchanged between ambient air cells to dissipate energy and so stop the rider being bounced back onto the track.

At the bottom of the barrier is a kickboard which will absorb the impact of a rider sliding into the Airfence. It is made from stiff conveyorbelt material that is soft enough to flex and allow the Airfence to save a fallen rider, but stiff enough to allow a rider to slide his rear wheel into it and get drive off the Airfence instead of being drawn into it. Most importantly, this also stops riders sliding under the Airfence.
